“When should we actually go?” is one of the first questions every stag party crew asks about Jacó Beach, Costa Rica. The honest answer: Jacó is a great guys-trip town year-round, but each season has its own advantages. Here's how to pick the right window for your group, courtesy of your Jaco Beach Chef at www.jacobeachchef.com.
The short answer: Jacó works all year
Jacó's beaches, nightlife, surf, and party scene run every month of the year, and the ocean is warm year-round. So the “best” time really comes down to your priorities: guaranteed sunshine, lower prices, or fewer crowds. The good news is that none of these seasons is a bad time — Jacó stays warm, the surf keeps rolling, and the bars and clubs stay busy all year, so you're really just fine-tuning a great trip rather than choosing between a good one and a bad one.

Dry season (mid-December to April): peak sunshine
If you want the surest bet on sunny days, the dry season — roughly mid-December through April — is the classic choice. Expect reliably dry, bright days, ideal for boat trips and beach days, and the liveliest stretch for nightlife. Because it's peak season, book your villa and chef early — the best large group villas go fast.

Green season (May to November): value & fewer crowds
Don't write off the green (rainy) season. Mornings are typically sunny and the rain often holds off until late afternoon or evening — perfect timing for a day of activities followed by a downpour you'll sleep right through. You'll also find lower villa prices, more availability, and fewer crowds, which stretches a group budget a long way. For many crews, that extra value means an upgrade to a bigger villa or an extra night out — the same money simply goes further from May through November.

What the seasons mean for your days
However you time it, plan your days around the light. In dry season you can schedule boat trips and beach days any time. In green season, stack your big activities — surfing, ATVs, a catamaran day — into the sunny mornings, then regroup at the villa for a chef dinner while the evening rain rolls through. We're happy to help you map a loose day-by-day plan through www.jacobeachchef.com.
Weekends vs. weekdays
Weekends bring the biggest nightlife energy to Jacó, while weekday stays are calmer and often cheaper. Many groups land on a Thursday-to-Sunday window to catch the best of both. Holidays and big surf contests draw crowds — aim for those if you want the town at full tilt, or avoid them if you'd rather it mellow.
