Right on the sand at Playa Herradura — just a few minutes north of Jacó — SUPHERR ("Stand Up Paddle, Herradura, Costa Rica") is the little beachfront shop that gets you out on the water. It's an orange shipping-container shack tucked under the trees, with racks of paddleboards, a couple of kayaks out front and the calm Bahía Herradura bay right across the road — about the gentlest, most beginner-friendly water on this stretch of coast. As your local private chef, when guests ask for a relaxed morning on the water near their villa, this is one of our easy answers. Here's the rundown.

What SUPHERR offers
It's a full little paddle-sports base, and the handwritten boards out front say it all. What they do:
- SUP tours — guided stand-up paddle trips out on the calm bay.
- SUP lessons & training — "clases" and "entrenamientos" for first-timers and anyone who wants to level up.
- Rentals — paddleboards and kayaks by the hour or the day.
- SUP yoga — balance and stretch on the water.
- Boogie boards and beach chairs (sillas de playa) — for an easy day on the sand.

Why Herradura is the easy place to paddle
Playa Herradura sits inside a protected horseshoe bay, so the water is usually calm and flat — much friendlier than the open surf at Jacó or Playa Hermosa. That makes it a great spot to try stand-up paddle for the first time, take the kids out on a kayak, or just drift around and look back at the green hills. You're launching straight off the beach, steps from the shop.

Hours & prices
Pricing is posted on the chalkboard out front and is best confirmed in person or by message, since it changes. What we saw listed:
- A group SUP / kayak class around ₡15,000 (roughly $28 USD), with a morning session noted at about 10:00 AM.
- Tours, rentals, kayaks, SUP yoga, boogie boards and beach-chair rentals — ask for current rates.
